Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a therapy which, in the past, has mainly been used to help people who have experienced some form of trauma including childhood trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). However, it has been found to be such an effective treatment that now it is routinely used to treat a wide range of problems including Anxiety (including worry and generalised anxiety (GAD), OCD, Sleep Problems, Depression, Low Self-esteem, Grief, Eating Disorders and much more

EMDR involves stimulating the left and right sides of the brain whilst targeting specific problems or memories. There are lots of ways to do this such as using eye movement or tapping. The aim of EMDR is to help you to process the emotions, memories, or bodily sensations that are causing problems or keeping you stuckEMDR is really accessible and can also be done online

EMDR can be delivered as a therapy alone or it can be used alongside other therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Counselling, or Occupational Therapy
